Lawrence Biskin, MD
Lawrence C. Biskin, MD, is a board certified general surgeon who operates at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, St. Margaret Memorial Hospital, and Gamma Surgery Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is originally from Montreal, Quebec, Canada where he graduated from McGill University. Dr. Biskin completed a two-year fellowship in Surgical Nutrition at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, in Houston, Texas, and completed his surgical residency at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital, in Pittsburgh. He serves on the National Advisory Board for the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and is the chairman of the hernia committee for the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Biskin is also one of few physicians that serves on the Medical Advisory board for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission. He is a medical and surgical consultant for the Ultimate Fighting Championships Company, Showtime Pro-Boxing as well as Consultant for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League. Dr. Biskin is actively involved in developing new minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques and began lecturing and preceptoring almost two decades ago. He has authored numerous journal and book publications and is an Independent Reviewer for the Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
